TROY – An East Greenbush attorney with more than three decades of experience in family court is the Republicans’ choice to run for Rensselaer Family Court judge against the Democratic incumbent.
Philip J. Danaher is making his second run for a county-level court position.
“They’re not a lot of people who’ve practiced for over 30 years in family court. This is a chance to help protect children,” Danaher said Wednesday.
Danaher, who has a private law practice, will face Family Court Judge Beth Walsh of Troy, who is completing her first 10-year term on the bench.They are circulating nominating petitions across the county for their main and third parties.
Danaher is a former assistant county attorney, former finance vice chairman of the county Legislature and a former East Greenbush town board member. He is a graduate of Siena College and Albany Law School, is married and has a son and a daughter. He has played competitive tennis since high school and for Siena College. He remains active in promoting tennis locally. He also serves as a Holy Spirit School board member.
Danaher lost the county court judge race in 2017. Jennifer Sober of Schodack won a 10-year term.
