ALBANY — A Rensselaer County man was arrested Friday on a charge of possessing unregistered firearms.
Thomas E. Ozga, 30, of East Nassau, is accused of possessing multiple, unregistered firearm silencers, according to a news release from United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Kevin M. Kelly, Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations, Buffalo Field Office.
Ozga appeared Friday before United States Magistrate Judge Christian F. Hummel, who ordered Ozga released with conditions, the U.S. attorney’s office stated.
If convicted, Ozga faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to Jaquith’s office.
This case is being investigated by HSI Office of the Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Albany, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily C. Powers.
